Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the United States. She's worked as media critic since. She created Feminist Frequency the site which features video and posts analyzing the portrayals of females in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency is a site to educate women about their role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. The site also has the executive director. As well as working to bring awareness to sexual harassment and attack on women and as well as other minorities, she is determined to break down the stigmas and stereotypes in the popular culture. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thinking. As a student, in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency website. A woman with ambitions to launch a web-series that would examine the gender representation of video games was targeted by the internet campaign. Her determination was not slowed from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her desire to become an expert on media and feminism. Numerous awards have been awarded to her as a way of acknowledging all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and founded Feminist Frequency. The educational nonprofit explores women's representations in the pop-culture narratives.
