Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is English and has Scots Irish family and her mother is Mexican and Spanish. One brother, Vincent, and one sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter was 5 years old when she made her TV debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. Carter joined a band named Just Us during high school. The group was comprised of conga, marimba, an acoustic guitar and stand-up basses. One of the girls in the group also played guitar. Lynda started singing in a restaurant when she was 15. 8] At the age of 16, she joined with two of her cousins from a different band called The Relatives. The drummer of the group was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The band debuted in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel & Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she joined the kitchen. After being named "Most Talented" and deciding to leave school and pursue an opportunity as a musician. In the year 1970, Carter auditioned and then was on the road together with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first performance with each other was at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. They played mostly for the hotel staff and hotel guests who left their cars in the garage underground. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" with shows at several of the state's casinos lounges between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter made the decision to leave the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting, and then went back to Arizona.
